Christina Pannos is owner and founder of Pannos Law, LLC, a law firm that specializes in representing and advocating for nonprofit organizations. The client base of the firm consists of trade associations, professional societies, charitable foundations, meeting and event planners, and other related entities. Christina has advised and represented clients in contract negotiation, corporate and non-profit structure, intellectual property protection and registration, commercial real estate leasing, employment, antitrust and data privacy. She has managed and represented an international art gallery and has worked for major international auction houses and museums in London and Chicago. Christina has presented to groups on issues including effective contract negotiation; licensing intellectual property; risk management; and data privacy, social media and security.
Christina attended Northwestern University (B.A. in Anthropology) and DePaul University College of Law (J.D.) She has a Masters in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute in London. Christina is an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law teaching several legal drafting courses: Art Market Transactions; Intellectual Property Licensing; and Legal Drafting: Transactions.
C. Michael Deese, a partner in the McLean, Virginia office of Chicago-based Pannos Law LLC, graduated from Davidson College (A.B. in Political Science) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.A. in International Relations) and its Law School (J.D.). Mr. Deese has practiced law in the Washington, D.C area for many years, focusing primarily upon the representation of national and international nonprofit organizations. His work includes corporate and governance matters (board member training, incorporation, mergers and consolidations, bylaws development, obtaining and maintaining tax exempt status, consulting regarding insurance coverage, development of chapter relations policies and agreements, review of publications and advertising, development and enforcement of codes of ethics and certification programs, and antitrust and tax compliance), contract negotiation and drafting (with convention centers, hotels, endorsed product and service providers, publishers, website development and maintenance providers, association executives and association management companies) and general counseling regarding the antitrust, tax and other consequences of client actions and programs.
Mr. Deese currently serves as outside counsel to numerous national and international trade associations, professional societies and related charitable organizations, including many operated by association management companies.
Mr. Deese is a member of the Legal Section of the American Society of Association Executives, where he has served on the Editorial Advisory Committee for that organization’s legal publication, Association Law & Policy. Mr. Deese served for many years on ASAE’s Association Management Company Section Council, is currently a member of The AMC Institute’s Accreditation & Standards Committee and is a frequent speaker on nonprofit corporate governance and other legal issues at association industry conferences.
Kendall A. Deese is an associate of Pannos Law LLC. Kendall’s practice includes contract drafting (sponsorship, presenter, hotel and convention center agreements), review of corporate documents (articles of incorporation, bylaws and association policies), preparation and review of corporate minutes, as well as intellectual property matters.
While attending The American University Washington College of Law, Kendall served as Managing Editor of the Business Law Review and as a member of both the Women’s Law Association and Sports and Entertainment Law Society. She also obtained her undergraduate degree from The American University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Certificate in Leadership and Ethical Development.
Kendall’s prior legal experience while in law school included serving as an associate at Howe & Hutton, Ltd., a law clerk for the Major League Soccer Players Association General Counsel’s Office, a paralegal at a Washington DC tax law firm, as a clerk for the District of Columbia Office of Administrative Hearings in the Licensing and Housing Division, and as a licensing intern for the NFL Players Association in Washington, DC.
Naomi is a semi-retired attorney who is a titan in the association law sphere. She will be available to attend meetings and consult on an as-needed basis.
